Web 2.0 is the second generation of web develop ment and web design. It is characterised as being user-centred designed and able to facilitate communication, information-sharing, interoper- ability, and collaboration on the Web. As a result, it has led to development and evolution of web-based communities, hosted services and web applications.
When combining functionality with design for a nonprofit organisation’s website, and depending on situational contexts, I often find it useful and more resource-efficient to employ links that navigate towards external websites that contain content one would like to share with an audience especially if it is with a specific purpose in mind. Rather than ‘house’ the same material which is otherwise available elsewhere on the Web, employing outbound links conserves ordinately large amounts of webspace and bandwidth consumption which otherwise could be employed more wisely.
For example, clicking this link will bring you to another site that contains this engaging piece of creative brilliance from Alan Becker titled – ’Animator vs. Animation‘ which, I think, you will enjoy. Again, no dialogue is involved other than sound effects that correspond with the animated sequence of graphic images.
